The SFDA has just received a Violet Hopkins Grant from The Dressage Foundation for our first ever Symposium, scheduled for the evening of April 19 through April 21, 2019: “Riding Through the Levels,” featuring USEF S Dressage Judge Bill Warren and USEF R Judge and USDF Certified Faculty Member Bill McMullin, of Warren-McMullin Dressage, as they guide rider/horse pairs “up the levels” through the new 2019 Dressage Tests. Do not miss this fantastic dressage educational and social opportunity right here at Santa Fe’s very own beautiful HIPICO Horse Barn!

Auditors, it’s time to pre-register for a discounted price! Riders, we want you! It’s time to tell us why you and your horse should be one of the 14 horse/rider pairs that we need to demonstrate “up the levels” during the Symposium.

We need the following rider/horse pairs who have had success (not necessarily in a show) riding one level above the level they will demonstrate, with emphasis given to inclusion of a variety of horse types and breeds:

Introductory (One pair)

Training (One pair)

First Level (Three Pairs)

Second (Three Pairs)

Third Level (Three Pairs)

Fourth Level (Three Pairs)

BIll McMullin, in conjunction with the SFDA, will have responsibility for final selections of the rider/horse pairs that will ride during the Symposium. Remember, rider/horse pairs, under instruction from the Bills, must also be willing to demonstrate “the wrong way” of riding particular parts of the test.

Thank you once again to The Dressage Foundation for its generous grant to support this tremendous educational opportunity for dressage enthusiasts in and all around USDF Region 5!

Thank you to members who came out for the Santa Fe Dressage Association’s Annual Meeting last Friday evening, November 30, at the Las Campanas Clubhouse. Members were able to meet and greet around the gorgeous holiday spread prepared by Las Campanas, and organized by our own Heather Brady. Our guest speaker was Bill McMullin, USEF ‘R’ Dressage judge, USDF Gold Medalist and a USDF Certified Instructor and Faculty member, who gave us a fantastic preview of changes in the USDF’s dressage tests that will become effective beginning in 2019. Bill also shared his enthusiasm about participating in the SFDA’s Dressage Symposium, scheduled for April 2019. See details below.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS for the SFDA’s three day Dressage Symposium, “Riding Through the Levels,” is scheduled for April 19-21, 2019 at HIPICO. The Symposium will feature Bill Warren, USEF S judge, and Bill McMullin, USEF R judge and USDF certified Faculty Member, both of Warren-McMullin Dressage in Mansfield, MA. Riders will demonstrate the dressage tests up the levels, while Bill and Bill provide guidance and direction on the tests and how they relate to the training scale, changes in the tests, and how to boost scores at the show! During the Symposium, we will also host a member meet and greet , with plenty of opportunity to connect with each other and the Bills on what we’re learning! Stay tuned for further updates on this page as well as email blasts on how to sign up—as a test rider and/or an auditor.
